Hydrogen Terminated Silicone Oil (THF Series) | LSR Chain Extender

Conclusions First: MESIL® THF Series consists of high-reactivity Hydrogen-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (Si-H at chain ends). Designed as the primary chain extender for addition-curing liquid silicone rubber (LSR), these fluids offer superior hydrosilylation reactivity compared to side-chain hydrogen oils. Available in molecular weights from 6k to 15k for precise formulation control.

Targeted Industrial Applications

LSR Chain Extension
Used as a critical chain extender in additive-type liquid silicone rubber. Reactive Si-H ends enable precise control over the elastomer network's mechanical properties.
Chemical Intermediates
The starting material for the production of silicone-modified block or graft copolymers. Essential for basic hydrosilylation intermediates.
Surface Treatment
Serves as a high-performance waterproof agent and softener for both textile finishing and leather manufacturing industries.

System Loop: Technical Support FAQ

What is the recommended mole ratio for complete reaction with vinyl groups?
The addition should comply with a 1:1 mole ratio of silicon-hydrogen (Si-H) and vinyl (allyl). Usually, a slight excess of Si-H is required for a complete reaction.
What are the optimal reaction temperature parameters?
The recommended reaction temperature is 80-90°C. Due to the exothermic nature of hydrosilylation, heat elimination by precise temperature control is mandatory.
How does THF-Series reactivity compare to standard hydrogen silicone oil?
Because the reactive Si-H bonds are located strictly at the chain ends, the THF series provides a higher reaction rate and better accessibility for block copolymerization than side-chain types.
