Performance analysis of micronized silica for advanced coating systems.
| Product Grade | Particle Size (d₅₀) [μm] | Pore Volume [ml/g] | Surface Treatment | Industrial Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Efficiency (101/103/106) | 3.5 – 6.0 | ≥ 1.8 | Untreated | High-purity SiO₂ for general industrial and decorative coatings. |
| High Clarity Grade (TS 100 Equiv.) | 9.5 | – | Untreated | Optimized for maximum clarity in waterborne UV systems. |
| Enhanced Resistance (203/205/206) | 4.0 – 6.5 | ≥ 1.8 | Organic / Wax | Premium wood coatings requiring scratch resistance. |
| UV-System Optimized (700/708/709) | 7.0 – 8.5 | 1.0 – 1.5 | Special Organic | Low-viscosity UV-curable systems. |
Our silica matting agents reduce gloss by creating a Micro-Rough Surface that scatters light. Selection depends on film thickness: smaller particles (4 μm – 5 μm) for thin coatings and larger grades for high-build industrial systems.
Organically Treated grades are designed to prevent hard-cake sedimentation and improve scratch resistance, while untreated silica offers maximum matting efficiency and cost-effectiveness in waterborne systems.
For UV-Curable Systems, we provide specialized low-absorption silica that minimizes viscosity impact and avoids interfering with UV light transmittance, ensuring proper through-curing.
