Rubber Grade Zinc Oxide
Vulcanization activator for tire, conveyor belt, footwear, and industrial rubber. ≥ 99.7% ZnO with controlled D50 and sieve residue. Active ZnO (high-surface-area, 30 – 60 m²/g) option cuts dosage 30 – 50%.

Application Details

How this grade is used in production — typical loadings and process notes.

Tire Compounds (Tread, Sidewall, Inner Liner)
Standard dosage 3 – 5 phr in combination with stearic acid (1 – 2 phr) to form the activator complex for sulfur cure. In silica-tread tires, active ZnO at 1.5 – 2 phr is increasingly preferred to reduce vulcanization-byproduct extractables.
Conveyor Belt & Industrial Rubber
4 – 6 phr in NBR, SBR, and EPDM cover compounds. ZnO also contributes to heat resistance and improved hot tear strength. Surface-coated ZnO (e.g., with stearic acid) speeds dispersion in viscous compounds.
Footwear (Outsole, Midsole)
Cure activator for SBR and NBR sole stocks at 3 – 5 phr. For light-colored EVA / TPR midsoles, active ZnO is preferred to avoid blooming. For PVC-based outsoles, ZnO functions as an HCl scavenger and stabilizer.
Adhesive & Sealant Compounds
1 – 3 phr in chloroprene (neoprene) adhesives — both as cure activator and as acid scavenger to extend shelf life. Active ZnO improves storage stability vs standard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Active ZnO vs standard ZnO — actual dosage savings?
Active ZnO with BET 30 – 60 m²/g typically replaces standard ZnO at a 1 : 2 ratio in tire and EPDM compounds. So a formula using 5 phr standard ZnO can drop to ~2.5 phr active, cutting raw-material cost ~30 – 40% (active is ~50 – 70% pricier per kg). Net savings depend on local prices.
Does the product comply with REACH and SVHC?
Yes. ZnO is registered under REACH (registration number on request). Not listed on SVHC candidate list. RoHS statement provided on shipment.
What is the recommended storage condition?
Original sealed bag in dry warehouse, < 30 °C, RH < 70%. Avoid prolonged contact with acidic vapors. Shelf life 24 months in sealed packaging.
Can you supply with stearic acid surface coating?
Yes — surface-coated rubber-grade ZnO is a separate SKU with 1 – 2% stearic acid pre-mixed. Improves dispersion in dry-mix compounding, especially for high-loading masterbatches. MOQ 1 MT.
