Application Details

How this grade is used in production — typical loadings and process notes.

Multi-Layer Varistor (MLV) & MOV Surge Arrestor
Used as the dominant matrix (≥ 90 wt%) in ZnO-based varistors. Heavy-metal control is critical — Pb and Cd disrupt the grain-boundary breakdown behavior that defines the V-I curve. Particle size tuning (D50 0.3 – 0.5 μm) determines firing density and final breakdown voltage. Typical co-additives: Bi₂O₃, Sb₂O₃, MnO₂, Co₂O₃.
Ferrite Core Production
Used at 1 – 5 wt% as a sintering aid for Ni-Zn and Mn-Zn ferrites. Low Fe contamination (≤ 10 ppm) prevents unwanted magnetic phase formation. Stable D50 ensures consistent shrinkage during sintering.
SAW Filter & Piezoelectric Substrate
ZnO thin films deposited on LiNbO₃ or LiTaO₃ substrates. Bulk ZnO powder feedstock requires ≥ 99.95% purity with minimal alkali residue (Na, K ≤ 5 ppm on request).
Phosphor and LED Encapsulant
As a UV scattering and stabilizing additive in LED encapsulants. Used at 0.1 – 1 wt% — requires very low D90 (≤ 2 μm) to avoid haze.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grade-level ICP-MS data can you share?
Full 16-element ICP-MS scan available on signed NDA — covers Pb, Cd, As, Hg, Cr, Ni, Fe, Mn, Cu, Co, Sb, Bi, Sn, Tl, Na, K. Standard CoA covers the 5 most-watched elements (Pb, Cd, Fe, Mn, Cu).
Can you guarantee Pb below 3 ppm?
Yes — tighter spec of Pb ≤ 3 ppm is available as a custom production run at an MOQ of 5 MT. Standard ≥ 99.95% grade ships at Pb ≤ 5 ppm.
What firing density and shrinkage should we expect at 1100 °C?
Typical sintered density 5.5 – 5.65 g/cm³ (96 – 99% theoretical) with linear shrinkage 18 – 22% from green compact. Actual values depend on green compaction pressure and dopant package.
Is the material available with reduced alkali (Na, K) on request?
Yes — Na ≤ 10 ppm and K ≤ 10 ppm specs are available with prior agreement (subject to lot scheduling).
