SEMITECH Zirconia Grinding Beads are 3Y-TZP ceramic media delivering density ≥6.0 g/cm³, hardness HV ≥1250, and wear rate <0.01 mg/kg·hr. Available in 10 sizes (0.1–3.0 mm), performance equivalent to Netzsch ZetaBeads, Sigmund Lindner SiLibeads ZY-P, and Tosoh YTZ at 25–40% lower cost.

Paints, Coatings & Industrial Inks

0.3–1.0 mm beads provide 50% more kinetic energy per impact than zirconium silicate (3.8 g/cm³), reducing grind time 30–40%. Ultra-low wear eliminates contamination in white and pastel formulations.

Lithium-Ion Battery Electrode Slurry

0.5–1.5 mm beads for cathode (NMC, LFP) and anode (graphite, silicon) slurry. Zero metallic contamination — Fe₂O₃ ≤0.01 wt% in bead body meets battery-grade requirements.

Pharmaceutical Nanosuspensions

0.1–0.3 mm beads for API d50 <500 nm. Manufactured under ISO 13485 QMS. Ra ≤0.02 μm and sphericity ≥0.95 minimize media fragment contamination.

Denser (6.0 vs. 3.8 g/cm³), harder (HV 1250 vs. 700), 10x lower wear rate. Cost 3–4x more per kg but deliver 30–40% faster grinding and 5–10x longer service life.

Bead diameter should be 20–30x the target final particle size. d50 1 μm = 0.2–0.3 mm beads; d50 5 μm = 0.5–0.8 mm; d50 >50 μm = 2.0–3.0 mm.
